Fountain mouth

White marble, 1st cent. B.C. - 1st cent. A.D.
Herculaneum
Naples, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, inv. 6532

The sculpture, in the form of a little satyr, realistically portrays a youthful face with blown-out cheeks. The water gushed from the little opening at the centre of the mouth.
