Adolfo Targioni Tozzetti
Took a degree in botany in Pisa in 1849; in 1860, appointed to the zoology chair at the Istituto di Studi Superiori of Florence. Founded a major zoological school and, in 1875, set up the Agrarian Entomology Station of Florence, which was to become one of the leading institutions of its kind in the world.
