Francesco Buonamici
A Florentine of noble origin, he was a lecturer for forty-three years at the University of Pisa, first in logic, and then, from 1565 to 1603, in philosophy. He enjoyed great fame and authority in his day as one of the greatest and most learned peripatetics, and was highly regarded by the Grand Duke of Tuscany. In addition to being a scholar of philosphy and medicine he was also a man of letters, and a member of the Florentine Academy. He died on September 29, 1603.
