Orazio Morandi
Son of Lodovico, a Roman patrician, he was born around 1570, entered the Vallombrosan Order at a tender age and took holy vows on November 10, 1590. Having completed his literary studies, he devoted himelf exclusively to the study of the occult sciences, and formed a friendship with Don Antonio and Don Giovanni de’ Medici, who were considered experts in those arts. He did many things to favor his Order when he was elected General, such as obtaining the confirmation of ancient privileges; but, being accused of sorcery and above all of having predicted the death of Pope Urban VIII, he was arrested and sent to prison by the Sacred Office, where he died on October 9, 1630.
