Sestilia Galilei Bocchineri
She was born in Prato, daughter of Carlo and Polissena Gatteschi. On January 28, 1629 she was wedded to Vincenzo Galilei the younger, with whom she had three children, baptized with the names of Galileo, Carlo and Cosimo. She was chosen by her father-in-law to be guardian of her children with the assistance of Mario Guiducci, in the case of her husband’s death, and after remaining a widow for three years provided for the guidance of her children with the help of Vincenzio Viviani, who was most fond for the sake of his nephews of him of whom he wished to be considered the last disciple. She made her will on April 29, 1667 and died on January 21, 1669.
