The Antica Farmacia is located on the ground floor of the former Cavalcanti tower-house, on the corner of Via della Porta all'Arco, where, since the late 14th century, the "spezieria" of Angelo and Gaspare Marchi is known to have existed. This is the only pharmacy in Volterra that has operated without interruption from its origins to the present, in the same historic location. The restoration carried out in 1991 has enhanced the beauty of the antique furnishings and the wealth of fine ceramic objects, consisting of urn-shaped jars decorated with plant motifs.
