The Centre was established for the purpose of informing the public of the problems inherent to the marine environment. On its premises are a research laboratory, an aquarium with 12 tanks illustrating various aspects Mediterranean ecosystem, and an interesting educational itinerary relevant to specific topics of Marine Biology. Numerous explanatory panels illustrate the geological history of the Argentario promontory, the various marine species found there, fishing techniques and the history of subsea activity. The exhibition contains the fossil remains of fish and seashells, as well as some elements of diving equipment, most notably the historic pieces belonging to a local diver.
