Farmacia Castellani [Castellani Pharmacy]
The antique pharmacy's date of foundation is uncertain (either 1735 or 1752). In August of 1944 it was first sacked and then blown up by the retreating German army. All of its material, including a historic archive recording every event in its existence since its foundation, was destroyed. The only object that escaped destruction was a great mortar and pestle on a stone base.
In 1948 the pharmacy was rebuilt. The furnishings, designed by Signora Lami, Dr. Castellani's mother, are original and interesting for their design and workmanship.
