Farmacia ai "Quattro Cantoni" [Pharmacy at the "Quattro Cantoni"]
The pharmacy must have been in operation since the middle of the 19th century, as demonstrated by the furnishings designed in elegant Neo-Classical style, which still today run along three sides of the sales area. They consist of wooden shelves painted white, with glass-fronted doors divided by fluted pilaster strips, terminating in carved and gilded Corinthian columns. Surmounted by a projecting frame with finely carved and gilded corbels and rosettes, the shelves terminate in a carved lunette with radial elements. Particularly monumental are the shelves opening to the back room, flanked by fluted columns. Above them is a frieze representing two dolphins with entwined tails, holding up a trident. The furnishings are completed by the sales counter. Unfortunately, the big round basin that was supported by two dolphins facing one another, often mentioned as a rare example of the Neo-Classical style, has been lost.
