Farmacia Rosai Paturzo [Rosai Paturzo Pharmacy]
This pharmacy, originally called the "Premiata Antica Farmacia Santa Maria della Pace", was founded by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine in 1793 as the pharmacy of the Hospital of Monte San Savino.
The furnishings, of particularly fine workmanship, are original, made of light green wood, decorated with imitation marble and gold. The shelves have closed cabinets and glass-fronted ones separated by slender columns joined by a wide frame bearing bronze statuettes and wood carvings of medicinal plants. The central cabinet is surmounted by the grand-ducal eagle in gilded wood, an image of the Madonna and a brass lamp. The counter, in the same style, stands on feet in the shape of lion's paws. Equally precious are the objects documenting its antique pharmaceutical equipment. Since 1920 it has been managed by the Rosai Paturzo family, formerly pharmacists in Naples.
