House of Emanuele Repetti

In the vicinity of the church of the Madonna del Carmine in Carrara stands the house where the great naturalist and historian Emanuele Repetti lived. With his monumental work – Dizionario geografico fisico storico della Toscana, published in Florence between 1833 and 1846 – Repetti left us a detailed image of the region in the first half of the nineteenth century, also under the scientific profile.

Tradition claims that Repetti’s house, one of the few examples of medieval house in Carrara, once hosted Francesco Petrarca.
