House of Giovanni Battista Amici
A plaque on the facade of the house recalls that here lived the optician and astronomer Giovan Battista Amici when he was called to Florence by Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II to direct the astronomical observatory on via Romana. For the Museo di Fisica e Storia Naturale of Florence, Amici made various optical instruments, part of which are today conserved in the Institute and Museum of History of Science. Today, the house is a hotel.
