Liceo Linguistico e delle Scienze Sociali "Isidoro Falchi" ["Isidoro Falchi" Secondary School of Languages and Social Science]
Founded in 1942, the "Isidoro Falchi" Secondary School of Languages and Social Science is a separate section of the "Guglielmo Marconi" Secondary School of San Miniato. The Institute is housed in the former girls' school of the Santa Marta Conservatory, built in a monastic complex dating from the late 16th century. In 1986 it was named for the physician Isidoro Falchi.
The school has a collection of educational apparatus and a naturalist collection. The former includes 25 laboratory instruments used in teaching (electrostatic machines, electromagnets, glassware, a vacuum pump and a Newton tube) purchased by the school, dating from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th. The naturalist collection, dating from the same period, is composed of some hundred specimens of fauna, preserved in fluid or stuffed, including some birds coming from the collection of the Sienese naturalist Brogi, as well as osteological samples, anatomical prepared specimens and a malacological collection.
