Museo della Civiltą Contadina di Montecastelli Pisano [Montecastelli Pisano Museum of Peasant Civilisation]
Thanks to the dedicated work of a group of volunteers, the Museum was created in 1985 with the objective of recording the activities of farming and craftsmanship in the territory of Val di Cecina, through objects donated by the townspeople.
The collection of implements for work consists of tools dating from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century, used for work in the fields and forests, for weaving and for the various crafts. Among the latter are tools used by carpenters, shoemakers, blacksmiths and saddle-makers, as well as moulds for the production of tiles and bricks. The collection also includes objects of domestic use and measurement instruments such as scales and bushel measures. The objects are displayed in two rooms on the ground floor of an edifice built inside the city walls.
