The Museum, founded in 1993, forms part of the Sienese Museum System. It displays implements of work made of wood and iron from the 20th century, testimony to the local trades of sharecropper, charcoal burner and woodsman. The exhibition area, which occupies a remodelled hay barn, is divided into three rooms (Introduction, The Territory, The Activities of Man). An educational workshop has been set up in the former school of Orgia, 500 meters from the Museum. The Museum's documentation is part of the larger collection of the Siena Provincial Administration's Centro di Documentazione del Lavoro Contadino [Peasants' Work Documentation Centre] (CEDLAC).
