Museo Statale di Palazzo Taglieschi [Palazzo Taglieschi State Museum]
Palazzo Taglieschi, dating from Renaissance times, was commissioned by the Condottiere Matteo Cane. It was built by stone-cutters and masons who applied the stylist canons of Florence and Urbino. Today the Palazzo is home to the State Museum, a fundamental site of touristic and cultural interest in Anghiari. The museum's displays, in fact, provide a good knowledge of the history of this little town. Although the museum focusses mainly on art and archaeology, it also displays such interesting objects as jars for storing olive oil and dyes, stone millwheels, and 15th-century keys for doors and portals, including the famous "catorcio" of Anghiari.
