The astronomical observatory of Libbiano was established by the Commune of Peccioli as a centre for the promotion of culture, with the scope of carrying out practical and educational and activity. The observatory has a dome over 4 meters in diameter. The former elementary school, totally rebuilt and annexed to the observatory, offers a spacious, well-equipped place for carrying out cultural and promotional activities. There is also a planetarium that simulates the most important celestial phenomena.
