Villa degli Orti
Today’s via Francesco Redi that climbs up into the hills surrounding Arezzo, is also known as "Via degli Orti" for the splendid gardens that at one time adjoined the most important villa in the area, an elegant late sixteenth-century construction, flanked by a tower. The interior conserves frescoes from the 17th century. Today, it is known as Villa Redi because it belonged to the family of scientist Francesco Redi from Arezzo, whose constant remittance of money to his family, as of 1659, contributed to its purchase, though it appears he never actually lived here. Today, it is private property.
