Michael's Table of Solomon is a lunar almanac. The rows show the date of the new moon for each month of the year from 1435 to 1530, as written in the cell at the far right of each row. The other cells represent, from left to right, the months of the year, which started in March. The four vertical numbers in each cell represent the day of the week (1 = Sunday), the day of the month, the hour, and the puncti of the conjunction (1 minute = 18 puncti). According to the table, for March 1435, the new moon would occur on Tuesday, March 29, at 18 hours and 948 puncti. Tables like this contained a wealth of information for the navigator and saved him the time and trouble of calculating data himself.
