Misc: St. Christopher Carrying the Baby Jesus (p. 202a)

This picture of St. Christopher carrying the baby Jesus is the last picture in Michael's manuscript. At the time, St. Christopher was often thought of as a giant who felt the whole weight of the world on his shoulder as he carried Jesus across a river. St. Christopher was also the patron saint of travelers. One look at such a picture was thought to keep a person safe for an entire day. This page of the manuscript shows a lot of wear, indicating that it was looked at often.
