The pianola is housed in an English-made wooden case with mother-of-pearl ornamentation and rests on a small nineteenth-century-style wooden table. The mechanism consists of a toothed revolving cylinder, a drum, a small harp, a "castagnets" sound, and six bells struck by small gilt bees. The mechanism, made in Geneva, is signed "Troll and Baker." There are also clamps for changing cylinders, repeating tunes, and closing and opening the instrument. The table drawer contains six replacement cylinders. There is also a contemporary display card, in French, with various harmonic descriptions and a list of the music reproduced on the cylinder.
