The monumental case of this ornamental clock is made of painted wood with stuccoed, burnished, and gilt motifs inspired by Renaissance and Oriental-style decorative and architectural patterns. The first compartment under the clock may have contained a carillon, but no evidence of this remains. The larger compartment below is accessible by means of small front and side doors fretworked like the walls themselves, but its purpose does not seem directly related to the clock or the carillon. The dial, made of white enamel on metal, has Roman hour numerals and a minute ring in Arabic numerals. The movement is secured to the dial by means of long spindles. It has two trains, both with toothed barrels. The going train has an anchor escapement with bent arms and steel pallets fastened by screws. The chime train for the hours and quarter-hours has a rake mechanism and snail between the front plate and the dial. Clearly visible on the back plate are the small pits in the pivot housings to hold the lubricating oil. The Brocot spring suspension is adjustable even through the dial by means of a key. The pendulum is missing but the crutch remains. The two bells are missing but their two hammers and support survive. On the lower plate is the maker's mark with the inscription "Lenzkirch AGU I Million" around a small stylized branch. The meaning of I Million is unclear, but it may refer to an exceeded production target.
