Cistern of the Roman Villa of San Vincenzino
The large subterranean cistern of the villa of San Vincenzino constitutes proof of the techniques the Romans utilised to collect water. From the villa roofs, rainwater was conveyed into the cistern by means of a system of pipes. Two tunnels start out from the cistern in opposite direction and, thanks to a system of passages equipped with a filtering and depuration system, supplied water to the work environments and to the private baths. With its capacity of 540 cubic metres, the cistern is in excellent repair.
