Giuseppe Duccini studied medicine at the Universities of Pisa, Padua and Montpellier. For many years he was professor of medicine at the University of Pisa. In 1771 he published a treatise on the thermal waters of Bagni di Lucca (De’ Bagni di Lucca, trattato medico e anatomico) [On Bagni di Lucca, medical and anatomical treatise] proclaiming their therapeutic qualities.
