Biblioteca del Seminario Vescovile [Library of the Bishop's Seminary]
The Bishop's Seminary in Pontremoli was founded in the late 18th century on the premises of the former Monastery of San Francesco. In 1853, with the acquisition of some 2,000 volumes constituting the Duplicates Repository of the Palatine Library in Parma, donated by the Duke of Parma Charles III, and with a previous collection coming from the suppressed Capuchin Monastery in Pontremoli, the library was established. One of the documents in this bibliographical heritage (about 30,000 volumes) is a precious eighteenth-century herbarium (Hortus Siccus), made up of 150 pages containing samples, with captions in Latin, of the flora of the Upper Lunigiana area, around Caprio in particular.
