The "Agnoletti" was established in 1974, when it separated from the Liceo Scientifico "Castelnuovo" ["Castelnuovo" Scientific Secondary School] of Florence. Its collection, which includes numerous carnivorous plants coming from all over the world, was formed in the 1980s. It was subsequently enriched to such an extent that in 1998 the school became the headquarters of the Italian Association of Carnivorous Plants, which also serves as a seed bank.
