Culpeper-type compound microscope, named after the innovations introduced by Edmund Culpeper, mounted on a wooden box. Similar to microscope VIII.27. Between the curved arms supporting the body-tube is attached the circular stage, below which lies the illumination mirror. Coarse focusing is by rackwork; a screw permits fine focusing. Accessories in the box-base drawer include six objectives. Provenance: Lorraine collections.
