The dial, of white enamel on brass, displays Roman hour numerals and Arabic five-minute numerals facing the hours. The movement has two gilt brass plates with a verge escapement, a barrel for the spring, and a chain fusee. A small barrel is attached to the back plate for repeating the hours and quarter-hours, with a rake mechanism. This is done by pressing the pendent (missing) placed near XII hours. The small steel plate replaces the original end-plate. The movement and dial of this watch are signed and numbered "C. Cabrier 2nd London 3950." Between the two plates protrudes a small lever, called a silencer, which stopped the bell chimes and enabled the user to count the strokes by touch. The removable dust cap is made of engraved gilt brass. It is fretworked for winding and adjustment.
