Made up of a series of sticks of triangular section, the painting - positioned originally above a door -displays two portraits at the same time: that of Charles II of Lorraine, revealed on the visible sides of the painted sticks, and that of his daughter Christine, wife of Ferdinando I de’ Medici, visible in the mirror that shows the hidden sides of the sticks.
