This instrument represents the Aristotelian-Ptolemaic cosmos with the Earth standing at the center and the planets moving on 7 concentric crystalline spheres: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Other 4 spheres follow: the fixed stars, the Primum Mobile, the zodiac sphere, and the Empyrean sky.
